Luke Boothroyd

Luke Boothroyd (born 4 April 1987 in Huddersfield) is an English professional ice hockey player, currently playing for the Manchester Phoenix in the EPL.
==Career==
Boothroyd began his hockey career with the Wakefield Warriors in skater hockey before switching to the ice with the Bradford Pirates. Boothroyd would initially play at U-16 level, scoring 64 points in 30 games through the 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons at both A and B standard.
His impressive scoring totals for a defenceman led to his mid-season promotion to the U-19 B team of the Bradford organisation, called the Bradford Vipers. Boothroyd would again score points, totalling 40 in just 9 appearances. For the 2003/04 season, Boothroyd would change to play for the Kingston, again at U-19 level, although now in the English U-19 A league. He would again play well and continue to rack up points.
This led to his professional debut in the 2003/04 season for the Hull Stingrays, then playing in the British National League. After playing twice for the Stingrays, he impressed enough to earn a professional contract with the Stingrays and would establish himself as a regular player for the team in the 2004/05 term. Boothroyd played in 62 regular season games for the Stingrays, helping out with 5 points along the way. Boothroyd would also make his international debut in 2004, playing for Team G.B. in the 2004 World Junior U-18 Championships on five occasions.
Boothroyd would remain with Hull whilst the British ice hockey leagues were re-structured, playing in the Crossover League and EPL. He would also played in the first Hull team to ice in the newly formed Elite Ice Hockey League in 2006, the first time the Stingrays had played at the highest level of ice hockey in the U.K.
Boothroyd would go on to establish himself as a key player for the Stingrays at EIHL level, and would play in 116 regular season games throughout the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. Unfortunately the Stingrays would fail to make the post-season on both occasions and Boothroyd would move to sign for the Manchester Phoenix in the summer of 2008 seeking to feature in the EIHL post season for the first time in his career. After a positive season for the Phoenix, Boothroyd would opt to remain with the Phoenix as they move into the EPL for the 2009/10 term.
